Estimates are calculated from FareFinder's published rate card (July 2026) based on distance and time, not live prices pulled from each app. Bolt is currently shown for Auckland pickups only. Actual fares vary with traffic, surge pricing, and promotions — always check the live price in the app before booking. See our Privacy Policy for details on how estimates are calculated.

Common questions

Is Bolt cheaper than Uber in Auckland?

For most short-to-medium Auckland trips, Bolt's base rates tend to come in slightly below Uber and DiDi, as the examples above show. Uber and DiDi are usually close behind. All three can rise during surge periods, so it's worth checking prices at the time you're actually booking rather than relying on a general rule.

Does DiDi have surge pricing in Auckland?

Yes. DiDi and Bolt both apply surge multipliers during peak times — weekday morning and evening rush hour, and late nights on Friday and Saturday. Uber applies surge too, though FareFinder shows a surge badge for Uber rather than adjusting the displayed price directly.

Is YourRide worth it if it's not the cheapest?

YourRide's fares are fixed and don't rise with surge, which makes them more predictable — especially for longer trips and airport transfers at peak times. On a normal, non-surge trip, Uber, DiDi, or Bolt will often be cheaper, as shown above. During a surge period, though, YourRide's fixed fare can end up being the better deal.

Does Bolt operate outside Auckland?

Within FareFinder, Bolt is currently only shown for pickups within the Auckland region. Uber and DiDi cover a wider range of New Zealand cities, and YourRide operates nationwide with fixed fares.
